Department rollup
Aggregated view of capacity, demand or allocation summed up the resource hierarchy.
A department rollup takes the records that producers and PMs maintain at the individual level and sums them up the resource hierarchy: from individual to trade to department. The rollup is what lets a studio head ask "how loaded is Animation across the next quarter" without having to read every animator's calendar. Because the rollup is computed from the same allocation entries that feed the schedule, the number a director questions can always be drilled back down to the projects and people behind it.
Department rollups are the building block executive views and the executive horizon stand on. The horizon's four-number summary per trade only works because the underlying records aggregate cleanly along the same axes that leadership thinks in. Studios that try to skip the rollup step and report straight off raw schedules tend to end up with executive dashboards that disagree with operational reality, which is the failure mode this view is designed to avoid.
